Amistad Launches First State-Wide Warm Line in the United States !

November 1, 2005 . With the release of 866-771-WARM (9276) Amistad officially launches the Maine Warm Line , the nation's first state-wide toll-free warm line for adults who utilize mental health services. The line is staffed from 5 pm until 3 am by Peer Specialists. The Maine Warm Line is a “ confidential non-crisis peer-to-peer support ” line funded by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and initially funded by the Maine Health Access Foundation.

Amistad Employee Alex Myhaver Wins Prestigious National Eli Lilly Inspiration Award!

October 10, 2005 . Alex Myhaver, well known in the Portland area for his lifelong battle with schizophrenia, has been selected as the first place winner in the Inspiration category of the 9 th annual Reintegration Awards sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company. The annual awards honor individuals and groups who help people overcome their own mental illnesses and offer hope to others facing similar challenges. The Awards also recognize local and national efforts to raise awareness for mental health. First prize winners receive $5,000 cash contributions designated to their respective institutions to further the success of their programs, as well as attend a national awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on November 4.

Amistad is honored as the WCSH 6 “Agency of Distinction.”

October 15, 2003 . The Amistad Peer Support & Recovery Center was honored as WCSH 6 TV's Agency of Distinction for 2003. The award came as part of WCSH's 6 Who Care initiative, and the award ceremony was held at the Marriott Hotel in South Portland . The Amistad community was chosen for the outstanding commitment and dedication its members show to the organization, to themselves, and to each other. Congratulations to all the members for this truly great triumph!

Amistad will be featured as part of a primetime special on WCSH 6 TV on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 , from 8 to 9 p.m. It will be re-broadcast on Sunday, October 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. Be sure to catch it.
